How many light fixtures do you have in your bathroom right now?

If you are like many other homeowners, you have one, or maybe two.

Now, how easy is it to see when you are doing something in your bathroom?

Probably not too easy, right?

Well, we are going to solve that problem for you by telling you what types of lights you need in every area of your bathroom.

Here are bathroom lighting ideas for every part of your bathroom:

Task Lighting Near the Mirror

Whether you are shaving, applying makeup, doing your hair, or brushing your teeth, you need to see what you are doing.  Proper task lighting installed near your mirror will help with these tasks.  We recommend sconces or vertical fixtures that are placed on both sides of the mirror.

Ambient Lighting

Ambient lighting is the main light in your bathroom, which is probably that big light in the center of the room.  This light may not help you do too many things, but it is a good starting point for adding visual appeal and a focal point.  We recommend changing this light fixture out and installing a chandelier or another attention-grabbing fixture.

Task Lighting in the Shower

There is really no reason for you to shower in the dark, which is why we recommend adding task lighting to this space as well.  A recessed light usually works best, but you may be able to find something else that you love.

Accent Lighting

There are always going to be those days when you do not want all the lights on in your bathroom and that is when your accent lighting can come in handy.  We recommend strip lighting underneath he cabinets or simply placing a light that will focus on a piece of art or the focal point of the room.

After you have installed all these lighting fixtures, you will want to go out and purchase LED lights for them if you can.  LEDs are quite durable and will not be affected by the moisture in the room, plus they use a lot less energy than other lightbulbs.

We also recommend that you place your lights on dimmer switches so that you can change the brightness in this room to fit your current needs.  After all, a relaxing soak in the tub is not going to require bright lights like you would need if you were shaving in the shower.

Once you have all these different lighting options installed in your bathroom, we know that you are going to love your bathroom more than ever before!
